1.2.2011 Announcement of the candidates for the Ars Fennica Prize 2011 at the Amos Andersson Art Museum in Helsinki. The competition for this most coveted of Finnish prizes for the pictorial arts will be between the artists Adel Abidin, Terike Haapoja, Hannaleena Heiska, Anssi Kasitonni and Pekka Luukkola. 3.6. – 29.8.2010 Summer season at the Retretti Art Centre, with the main exhibition devoted to the works of Helene Schjerfbeck. Featured in the Retretti Caves is an extensive private exhibition by Pekka Luukkola comprising part of the artistic material belonging to his doctoral thesis.

21.11.2008 Announcement of the results of the Fotofinlandia competition at the offices of Helsingin Sanomat in Helsinki. Exhibition of photographs entered by the finalists chosen from the seven qualifying competitions. The overall competition was won by Hannes Heikura, a press photographer with Helsingin Sanomat. 19.11.2008 Sale of Finnish photographic art at Christies in London, including works by Elina Brotherus, Miklos Gaal, Ola Kolehmainen, Marjukka Vainio and Jorma Puranen. Pekka Luukkola’s ”Rowing” was among the works sold.
19.10.2008 Announcement of the finalists in the Fotofinlandia competition of 2008 at the Finlandia Hall, in the presence of the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, and her husband, Dr. Pentti Arajärvi. The original 128x100 cm exhibition prints of Pekka Luukkola’s Fotofinlandia series Maan varjossa were on display, and Luukkola’s multivision presentation to accompany the tune Walking in the Air had its first performance.
27.10. – 18.11.2007 Works by Pekka Luukkola in a joint exhibition with Jyrki Parantainen, Marjukka Vainio and others at Galleria Heino. Pekka Luukkola’s own private exhibition at Galleria Heino is due to open in March 2009.
8.5.2007 A landscape photograph by Pekka Luukkola on display at the Eurovision Song Contest. The heads of all the national delegations to the contest were presented with a souvenir copy of his Matka Suomeen – Journey into Finland.
24.10.2006 Cloth prints, size 25x3 and 16x5 metres, of landscape photographs by Pekka Luukkola on display at the Ecofin and Asem summit conference venues in Helsinki and at other summits in Lahti and Brussels during Finland’s presidency of the EU.

10.3.2004 Finnish representative in the Euro Press Photo Awards 2004 competition, held in Rome. The jury for the preliminary competition in Finland had described Luukola’s entry as representing ”a powerful, genuine atmosphere combined with high-quality implementation”.
28.9. – 3.10.2004 Landscape photographs to represent Finland at the Photokina Fair in Cologne.
18.03.2004 Matka Suomeen – Journey into Finland chosen as a Distinguished Book of the Year 2003 by the Finnish Book Arts Committee. The jury’s evaluation read: “An impressive book of pictures employing exceptionally fine photographic techniques combined with high-quality printing work and impeccable typography.”
